Stephen Hammond To Stand Again In Wimbledon


General Election candidates are named as nominations close

Former Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond is to stand again for the Conservatives in the forthcoming General Election.

It was no surprise to see his name on the list when nominations closed today (May 11). Mr Hammond won the Wimbledon seat in 2015 with a 12,619 majority.

The Labour candidate is Imran Uddin, Merton Borough Councillor for St Helier ward.

Standing for the Liberal Democrats is Carl Quilliam. The UKIP candidate is Strachan McDonald, while Charles Barrabell will represent the Green Party.

In neighbouring Mitcham and Morden, there are six candidates, including Labour's Siobhain McDonagh, who was the sitting MP.

Also standing in Mitcham and Morden are:

Des Coke, Christian Peoples Alliance.
Laura Collins, Green Party.
Richard Hilton, UKIP.
Alicia Kearns, Conservative.
Claire Mathys, Liberal Democrats.
