Awards for young golfers

Young golfers in Wimbledon have been presented with certificates for completing their Merton Active Plus summer golfing course.

Seven local children, aged from 8-13, took part in the four-day golf course at Wimbledon Park Golf Club.

Merton Active Plus courses offer youngsters the chance to have a go at a variety of activities from golfing and athletics to painting and sewing during school holidays.

Mayor of Merton, Councillor Gilli Lewis-Lavender, who presented the certificates, said: "It was great to award the children their certificates for taking part in the Merton Active Plus golf programme. I would encourage all parents to sign their children up to one of the many courses available."

Courses are still available this summer. Merton Council's next Active Plus programme is during October half-term and parents can book their children on courses now.
