Rushmere Lake on August 6
Members of Wimbledon Disarmament Coalition/CND will gather on the
shores of Rushmere Lake, Wimbledon Common at dusk on Tuesday August 6, the
68th anniversary of the dropping of the world's first atomic bomb on
the city of Hiroshima.
They shall remember the 200,000 victims and say they they will "renew our determination to
campaign for a world in which weapons of mass destruction are outlawed
under international law".
Young local Japanese lady Satsuki Goto will speak at the event, and they will float candles on the surface of the water (white flowers if the weather is inclement) in accordance with Japanese tradition.
