Wimbledon's HMV Store Is Victim Of Company Administration

But the boutique cinema above the store will continue as normal

Wimbledon's HMV store has closed after the new buyer of the collapsed music chain decided not to include it in its purchase.

Canadian firm Sunrise Records has bought 100 HMV stores out of administration, but it is closing 27 of them - including the branch on the Broadway in Wimbledon town centre.

Wimbledon HMVThe deal secured 1,487 jobs across 100 stores, but there will be 455 redundancies, including the Wimbledon staff.

A sign on the door of the Wimbledon store today said the shop had now closed, but the HMV Curzon cinema would be open as usual.

The popular three-screen cinema is on the floor above the shop and run by a separate company. The nearest HMV store to Wimbledon is now in Kingston.
