SW19 team are top of the league
The team now sitting on top of the East Conference of The Men's National Hockey League are from Wimbledon Hockey Club.
The Wimbledon Men's 1st team, which has made a 100% start to the season, includes GB Olympic star Ben Hawes. As well as playing in the London 2012 GB team, he captained the side at Beijing and also played in Athens in 2002.
Other club players include Ben Marsden (Beijing 2008) Richard Alexander (Athens, Beijing) as well as some GB hopefuls of the future.
The hockey club, based at The Wimbledon Club in in Church Road, is the second largest hockey club in the country.
As well as Men's teams from 1X1 to 6X1 and Ladies' from 1X1 to 4X1, it has nearly 500 junior members with teams in age groups starting at u-9 girl's teams.
The founders of the historic club were responsible for the original codifying of the game in 1886, and the Ladies' Club is the oldest in the world.
