Love Wimbledon Marks "Independents' Day"

Giving a voice to independent retailers

Love Wimbledon welcomed "Independents' Day" to the town centre Piazza, to meet with Wimbledon's talented independent business owners.

Settling into Love Wimbledon deckchairs they talked about how to sustain a successful business, and why they're part of the campaign.

Celebrating independent businesses across the country, "Independents' Day", sponsored by Mondelez International, aims to give a voice to the UK’s independent retailers.

It is run in conjunction and alongside Independent Retailer Month, and was well-timed to take place on July 4.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vast amount of support available to all independent businesses, to help them acquire and improve essential skills to grow their business, via the NSA for Retail skills network.

Business Improvement District (BID) Love Wimbledon were delighted to hear Independents Day would be coming to Wimbledon and so brought together successful, local entrepreneurs amongst the buzz of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

Business entrepreneurs Gina Conway, of Gina Conwey Aveda Salons, Victoria Nicol of ‘Windmill Market’ and Cokey J Sulkin of ‘Hot Pink Grill’ shared their knowledge and views with Independents Day and celebrated the support being offered to Independent retailers.

Helen Clark Bell, BID manager, said: "There is such a variety of independent retailers in Wimbledon Town Centre and it's so important to support our high street independents in this current climate."
