Peter Pan pulls in the crowds

New Wimbledon Theatre's recent panto - Peter Pan - broke the box office records set by the previous year's panto, Aladdin.

This year's show marked the pantomime debuts of David Hasselhoff (right) and Louie Spence, with Jerry Springer appearing as an alternate for "The Hoff" is his role as Hook.

More than 73,000 people watched the show during its five-week run at the 100-year-old theatre on The Broadway.

The theatre actually marked its 100th birthday on Boxing Day with extra decorations, balloons and an on-stage congratulatory telegram from The Prince's Trust as well as the audience singing Happy Birthday en masse.

During the run there was a charity performance for more than 1,000 children from the NSPCC, a charity gala in aid of Barnardos and one on-stage marriage proposal.

There was also a host of celebrity audience members, including Mark Owen, Miranda Hart, Andy Serkis, Jason Gardiner, Emma Bunton, Pixie Lott and Peaches Geldof.

Tickets for the 2011-12 panto, Dick Whittington, are already on sale, with the cast to be announced in the coming months.
