Wimbledon Park Paddling Pool Is Open For Summer

Borough's other pools welcome visitors from July 20

Children can make a splash as free paddling pools across Merton are opened up for the summer months.

The first paddling pool of the season is already welcoming dozens of youngsters into its jets in Wimbledon Park, with more set to open in July.

The rest of Merton’s free paddling pools will open from 20 July until 31 August from 10am to 5pm every day. They are supervised and maintained during the opening hours.

An interactive water play area in Tamworth Recreation Ground, London Road, Mitcham, will be open from 20 July to 31 August.

Standard paddling pools in Colliers Wood Recreation Ground, Joseph Hood Recreation Ground and Rowan Road Recreation Ground will be open daily during the same period, as will pools at King George’s Playing Fields, Morden Park and Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Fields.

Cabinet Member for Community and Culture Councillor Nick Draper said: “My children enjoyed our paddling pools when they were little, and I want your children to have as much fun as mine did.

“It’s not easy keeping paddling pools maintained, staffed and safe in the current economic climate: but we value your children’s summer playtime and we want to keep this service going in our parks.  Please help us do this by taking any rubbish home with you at the end of your visit.”
