Merton Remembers On November 14


Services to take place across the borough

The men and women of the Armed Forces will be honoured next week with a series of remembrance services across Merton.

On Sunday November 14, numerous acts of Remembrance will take place across the borough, including:

Wimbledon War Memorial - Wimbledon Village.

The Service of Remembrance will start at 10.40am at the Wimbledon War Memorial, Wimbledon Village.  It will be attended by The Rt Honerable Sir John Wheeler, Deputy Lieutenant and The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Oonagh Moulton, Civic Representatives and members of organisations in the Borough. After the service, the Deputy Lieutenant, Sir John Wheeler will take the salute in the High Street, Wimbledon Village. Members of the Wimbledon Branch of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance.

Nelson Hospital Forecourt, Kingston Road, Wimbledon Chase

The Service of Remembrance will start at 9.00am and will be attended by The Worshipful the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Oonagh Moulton, Civic Representatives, together with the Royal British Legion, and representatives from The Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals, and The Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust.

Mitcham War Memorial - Lower Green West, Mitcham

The Service of Remembrance will start 10.40am at the Mitcham War Memorial, at Lower Green West, Mitcham. It will be attended by The Deputy Mayor of Merton, Councillor Margaret Brierly, Civic Representatives and members of organisations in the Borough.  After the Service the Deputy Mayor will take the salute. Members of the Mitcham Branch of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance.

St. Lawrence’s Church - London Road, Morden

The Service of Remembrance will start at 10.30am in St Lawrence’s Church, then at 10.55am a wreath laying ceremony at the church Lychgate, the Morden War Memorial. Members of the Morden and District Branch of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance.
