Dashing Around Wimbledon

Entries being taken for annual 5k run

Entries are now being taken for an annual road race - the Perseverance Wimbledon 5k Dash - which takes place on Sunday August 14.

All funds raised from the event goes towards providing equipment and athletic development for people in Wimbledon and the wider area of south-west London.

The event, hosted by the Hercules Wimbledon AC, is backed by the Richmond-based Perseverance Clinic and Good Run Guide.

The hilly, one-lap, course starts at the Wimbledon Park Arena at 9.30am.

The race is the final Surrey Road League Series Race of 2011 and also incorporates the Surrey County 5km Championships.

Organiser Richard Xerri said of the sponsorship of Perseverance Clinic: "Of all the courses that require perseverance over 5km this is it! Hilly, hot and a good quality field, it doesn't get much better than this for the county of Surrey".

He added that the race was a great build up to the Geoff Moulden Wimbledon 10km on Sunday October 3.
