Witness Plea After Wimbledon Station Attack

Police release CCTV images

Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was punched and her partner attacked at Wimbledon station.

Officers have released CCTV images (below) of two men they believe will have information which can assist their investigation into the incident which took place on Saturday October 20.

Detective Constable Michael Stephenson, investigating the incident, said: "A 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were travelling on a train from London Waterloo to Wimbledon at around 1.30am when this incident took place.

"The couple became involved in a conversation with two men they did not know. The conversation started out as friendly banter but the two men soon became verbally offensive to the couple, before following them as they left the train at Wimbledon.

"Without provocation, one of the men punched the woman in the back of the neck, leaving her with a graze. When her boyfriend tried to intervene he was set upon by both men and was punched in the face, receiving a swollen and bruised left eye."

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or recognises the men in the CCTV images, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 quoting background log B6/LSA of 08/11/2012, or contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
