AELTC reveals special anniversary events
The overall prize money for this year's Wimbledon tennis championships is up by 6.4%, with the men's and ladies' singles winners set to net £1.1m each.
The figures were announced by the All England Club as they also revealed special events being staged to mark the 125th anniversary of the championships.
Philip Brook, Chairman of the All England Club and Wimbledon Championships, said the total prize fund was £14.6m, with the main winner receiving an extra £100,000 from the 2010 pot.
He said: "Leading international sports events such as Wimbledon are all about the quality of the players on show. In the competitive world of top level sport, it is important that we offer prize money which suitably rewards the players both for the box office appeal they bring to the event and for their supreme performances on court."
A special 125 anniversary logo will appear on items including balls, Champagne, shoes and a new ball boy and girl uniform being designed by Ralph Lauren.
The championships take place on their usual dates, from Monday 20 June – Sunday 3 July. But, as part of the anniversary events, BBC's Antiques Roadshow will be filming at the club on August 25.
