Why Not Volunteer In Wimbledon?

Improve your health and learn new skills

Every year, more than 20 million people across the UK volunteer, donating more than 100 million hours to their communities every week.

Last year in Merton, 19% of residents contributed to that figure. This is great but we want to get more local people contributing to their community.

Research shows that giving your time improves your health and wellbeing and creates safer and stronger communities. Also, if you're looking for work or seeking to change jobs, it will provide you with valuable skills and experience.

To make this happen, from June, 20 new volunteering opportunities are being promoted in Merton - these include opportunities in and around the Wimbledon area.

Hayley James, Volunteering Strategy Programme Manager for the Merton Partnership, said: "The aspiration for Merton is that everyone gives some of their time, even if it's only an hour, to make their community a better place to live, work or socialise. To help achieve this, we've publicised 20 volunteering opportunities and there is something to appeal to everyone."

If you're not one of the 19% of people in Merton who give their time why not get involved? You can check out the volunteering opportunities at www.mertonconnected.com/volunteeringopportunities or contact Hayley James on hayley@mvsc.co.uk or 020 8685 2272.
