Robbers flee after assaulting staff member
Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery and assault on staff at a restaurant in New Malden.
Two men entered the "Curry Leaves" restaurant in Burlington Road, New Malden, at about 7pm on Monday October 31. They had previously visited as customers.
They started an argument with staff, and one staff member was assaulted and some property stolen. They two men made off in a car, as police were called to the scene.
Sergeant Graham Chapman, West Barnes Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "Following this incident, an extensive investigation to support the hard working staff of the "Curry Leaves" and other local businesses has been carried out.
"We won't tolerate this kind of behaviour on our ward - anyone coming to West Barnes to cause trouble for our local businesses will be a target for direct police action."
PC Paul Fagence, Merton Crime Squad, said: "We have identified two suspects, one of whom we arrested at his home address this morning. The Crime Squad is actively pursuing leads at other addresses to locate and arrest the other suspect, whom we look forward to arresting very soon."
