Plea for witnesses after 91-year-old injured
Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a 91-year-old man was pushed off his mobility scooter during a row outside a Wimbledon Village supermarket.
Detectives have put out fresh information about the incident, which took place on Saturday May 26, in the hope that more witnesses will come forward.
They say the pensioner was assaulted between 1.15pm and 1.40pm
outside Tesco Express on Wimbledon Hill Road.
After completing his shopping in Tesco, the victim returned outside and went
to put his trolley back. The victim then became involved in an altercation
with the suspect who was trying to get access to his bicycle next to the
trolley bay.
The suspect pushed the victim, causing him to fall and fracture his hip.
After being pushed, the victim was helped back onto his mobility scooter by
members of public. The suspect made off. The victim was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact police on
020 8649 3103, or the non-emergency contact number 101. If you wish to
remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
+ A 29-year-old man was arrested on 31 May on suspicion of GBH and has
been bailed to return to a south London police station in August, pending
further enquiries.
