Wimbledon's Wombles In Westminster

The Wombles meet Wimbledon MP

Wimbledon's famous Wombles made an important stop-off at Westminster on their way to appear at the Glastonbury festival.

The Wombles of Wimbledon Common - Uncle Bulgaria, Tobermory, Wellington, Orinoco and Madame Cholet joined Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond for a photo call on Westminster Bridge (see right).

Mr Hammond said: "Well done the Wombles! Their message to tidy up after yourself and Keep Britain clean is as relevant today as the last time they ventured out from the Common.

"I hope that their appearance at Glastonbury is hugely successful and they will decide to make lots more appearances."

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has recently said he regretted booking The Wombles to appear on the Avalon stage on Sunday June 26.

Will the Wombles be a Glasto hit? Why not comment on our forum?
