Saint Cecilia's is a popular, over-subscribed, co-educational comprehensive school for pupils aged 11–18 years specialising in the teaching of Music of which parents, staff, pupils and the local community are immensely proud.

The school has a proven record of high academic standards taught in a caring, supportive and Christian environment. Whilst candidates must be in sympathy with the aims of a voluntary-aided Church of England school, a Christian commitment, though desirable, is not essential for this post.

  • This post is required to assist the SENCo delivering support for pupils with ASD, SpLD and other Special Educational Needs and also with the clerical and administrative tasks required.
  • To plan and deliver specific intervention for pupils with Special Educational Needs. This will include small group work and one to one work with individual pupils.
  • This support may include literacy intervention, numeracy intervention and support for pupils with social and communication needs.
  • To review the impact of any intervention work and liaise with the SENCo, teachers and parents with feedback.
  • To assist the SENCo with a range of duties including provision mapping, assessments, monitoring and tracking of pupil progress, records and documentary evidence, liaison and meetings with other professionals and parents.

The ideal candidate needs to be discreet and sensitive, with strong administrative skills and the ability to communicate effectively, across all sectors of the community e.g. pupils, parents, teaching staff and outside agencies is essential. The successful candidate will need to be well organised and able to work to deadlines. Previous experience in education or in Special Educational Needs would be an advantage.
