Dons Are Just One Match Away.....

Wimbledon Set For Historic League Return

Around 6,000 Dons fans are expected to make the trip up north for the most important match in AFC Wimbledon's history.

A total crowd of up to 20,000 is expected at the City of Manchester Stadium for the Blue Square Premier play-off match against Luton Town. The winners will be promoted to the Football League.

AFC Wimbledon left Kingsmeadow on Thursday to prepare for Saturday's match in plenty of time.

Manager Terry Brown, said: "Now we set off to a game where we aim to put the name of Wimbledon back into the Football League.

"With the exception of Gareth Gwilliam, who is 50:50, everyone is fit. We know Luton are a very good side but I mean no disrespect to them when I say that the lads are in the form of their lives and very confident.

"We will be acclimatising with a visit to the stadium to train on the pitch and then it's a matter of relaxing before getting a clear focus for Saturday's game. It will be a fantastic game and a great atmosphere where we aim to make another major step in the club's history."

The match kicks off at 3pm and the Kingsmeadow bar will be open from noon, and will show the live televised game.

If the team wins promotion, the bar and stadium will be open on Sunday, with the team expected back around 4pm.

Fans will be invited into the Paul Strank Stand and, if necessary, onto the terraces. After the players leave, the bar will remain open until demand slackens.
